Hello, I'm Brian Erbes, 29 years old, from Argentina. Three of my great grandparents came from Russia. Two of them were born in Neu-Weimar, and one of them is Ludwig Erbes (June 5, 1887, Neu-Weimar - August 2, 1957, General Ramírez, Entre Ríos, Argentina), son of Andreas Erbes and Katharina Brauer.
Luis is Ludwig in Spanish
From the info I could gather from CEMLA (
https://cemla.com/buscador/) the family arrived the May 20, 1892:
[*] Andreas, 46, married
[*] Katharina 44, married
[*] Johann 22, single
[*] David, 6
[*] Ludwig, 2
Last name - Name - Age - Civil status - Nationality - Place of birth - Profession - Arrival date - Ship - Port
Also I found the departure date (April 21, 1892) in the Hamburg passenger lists:
I'm not 100% sure if the next records belongs to them: in the 1895 Argentina's national census I found an illiterate family, Erbes, all of them born in Russia, living in the Entre Ríos province and composed of seven people:
[*] Andrés (Andreas), 43, married, land owner
[*] Catalina (Katharina) Elisabet, 40, married, 6 children and 25 years of marriage
[*] Martin, 23, single
[*] Juan (Johann), 20, married
[*] David, 16, single
[*] Ludovico (Ludwig in Italian, probably a mistake from the census taker because I can see some sort of deletion), 6
[*] Catalina, 20, married
If it's them, my theory is that because they were illiterate, they were unable to give the proper ages to the people asking them for that information and the record takers had to guess. Here it also says that Catalina Elisabet had 6 children. Here my guess is that Martin, the older one, arrived alone in another ship (I couldn't find a Martin Erbes in CEMLA but if he arrived to the Rosario port the record was lost). Juan got married probably with Catalina and lived in the same house (the maiden last name was not recorded for this census). The other two maybe died, weren't well counted, stayed in Russia or left to another place.
A) Name and last name - B) Sex - C) Age - D) Civil status - E) Country - F) If Argentinian, place of birth - G) If not catholic, religion - H) Profession - I) Can read? - J) Goes to school? - K) Have properties? - L) If is a married woman or widow: how many childrens have? / How many years of marriage? - M) Disease? - N) Thyroids disease? - O) Invalid: war? / accident? - P) Orphan?
As far as I know, Andreas could have been born between 1840 and 1850. Searching on this forum, the Erbes that founded Neu-Weimar came from Dobrinka (also the Brauer). Can someone tell me where should I ask for records to search more about Andreas? I would appreciate it a lot since all the information I provided to you here is all I know about him.
