Johann Georg Bath was born 25 Feb 1714 in Rheinbischofsheim, Baden (formerly Hanuaerland). He married Elisabeth Walther on 23 Jan 1743. They had three children prior to immigrating to Russia: (1) Christina, born 23 November 1754; (2) David, born 21 June 1756; and (3) Michael, born 3 October 1758.
Johann Georg Bath, a farmer, and his family arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 22 July 1766 on a Russian packet-boat under the command of Lieutenant Makkensy.
The family initially settled in the Volga German colony of Dietel on 1 July 1767 where they are recorded on the 1767 Census in Household No. 9. Son Michael later moved to Frank.
